Becky Wynn Eva was born on March 11th, 1962 in Maple Creek Saskatchewan. She was the second daughter to Sunny & Lynda Barroby. Becky is pre-deceased by her mother, Lynda Rae (White), and her father, Ryott (Sunny), and brother-in-law Brad Genert.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Glen, of 23 years. Her stepdaughters, Lindsay (Cole), Michele (Cody), and Laura (Tommy). As well as her two sisters, Shelly Genert and Renda (Russ) Boschee. She also leaves 8 grandchildren Tate, Katie, Noah, Alli, Dani, Hattie, Carter and Cash. Becky also leaves her cherished nieces and nephews and numerous other friends.
Through her childhood years, the summers were spent at the cabin at Cypress Hills with her parents and sisters, Shelly and Renda. They spent time swimming, going for walks, visiting with friends at the park, berry picking, having campfires, picnics and playing games. Becky had many school friends and a few special ones that remained into her adult years. She was also in 4H and worked at the horse-riding academy at Cypress during the summers. Becky was a great singer and got her start singing in talent shows and weddings. Eventually, she was in a country music band. One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming the Maple Creek Rodeo Queen in high school. Becky enjoyed downhill skiing and skating and much of her time was spent at her grandparent’s farm at Ravenscrag. Shelly and Becky had many adventures with her aunts that were only a few years older than her. Her other grandparents only lived a few houses away which was their home away from home. A vacation to Disneyland was a highlight trip for the family. They drove the whole way, stopping off in Las Vegas and the Grande Canyon. Christmas was spent enjoying time with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents on both sides. Becky had a large extended family, and she loved to spend time with them. Becky loved all her nieces and nephews and was also the God mother to a few of them.
After high school, Becky went on to beauty school in Saskatoon to get her licence as a journeyman hairstylist. She then moved to Medicine Hat where she worked for a couple of years. Shortly after, she moved back to Maple Creek where she opened her own hair salon.
In 1995, Becky sold her salon and moved to Sundre, Alberta where she continued to do hair. In 1998 she met the love of her life, Glen Smith, along with his three daughters, Lindsay, Michele and Laura. Glen and Becky were married in 2000. They spent their early years together traveling and taking family camping trips. As the years went on, Becky retired from doing hair and started working as a care assistant in long-term care in Olds and Sundre. She also spent time working in home care.
Becky was over the moon when their first grandchild was born in 2005. After that, 7 more followed. Becky’s greatest passion was being a grandma. She loved her grandchildren more than anything in the world. The kids most special memories include going for birthday dinners and sleepovers at Grandma’s house. In 2014, Glen and Becky moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. Becky really enjoyed the weather, food, culture and the shopping while living there. During the 5 years they were there, they had many visitors from back home. Becky enjoyed cooking Cajun food for her visitors and touring them around to all of the sites. As much as she liked living down south, Becky couldn’t wait to move back home as she couldn’t stand to be apart from her grandchildren.
After they came back to Alberta, many more happy years and family moments went by until Becky’s passing at the age of 61. Becky will be dearly missed by Glen, the girls, their grandchildren and by the rest of her family and friends.
“The loss felt is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind.”
