BURGOYNE, Zachary
We are truly heartbroken; there are no words that can describe our sorrow, as we announce the sudden passing of Zachary Burgoyne, on December 14, 2017 at the age of 25.
Zachary possessed a brilliant, inquisitive mind, always searching for answers and willing to share his knowledge with others. Laureate of his high school’s peer-support award, he continued his quest for knowledge at Carleton University where he completed a Bachelor degree in Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering in 2015 and was working on his Master of Applied Science degree. Zach was passionate about our environment and knew he could make our world a better and more sustainable place through his work and his involvement with various campus groups. But beyond his knowledge, at the very core of his being, was the kindest, gentlest person one could have ever wished to meet. Those who had the honour of knowing him, of being his friend, know that a piece of him will forever be with them. Zach was the cherished son of Jonathan and Sari (née Penny). Loving brother of Elizabeth and Halie, and adored grandson of Louise Sutcliffe (the late Francp), Winston Penny, and Al and Nancy Burgoyne. He will be sadly missed by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and numerous friends. His love for animals was apparent to all, and his two cats Tinsel and Tumbleweed were the recipient of so much love. The family will receive relatives and friends at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd., Orléans, on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A Celebration of Zach’s life will follow in the Heritage Chapel at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a mental health organization of your choice or to the Ottawa Humane Society.
