WILLIAM A. OCHREY
Born, November 16, 1927, Bill passed away on November 20, 2017 at Heritage Manor in Kindersley at the age of 90.
He is survived by his sister, Eleanor Humeny and his nieces and nephews: Anne (Rick) Kalenchuk, Fred (Colleen) Humeny, Jerry (Billee) Humeny, Alice (Jim) Humeny Nazarewich, Adelle (Don) Ratcliffe-Smith, Nadine (Dave) Anderson, Gerald (Guylaine) Ochrey, Leonard (Rhonda) Ochrey, and eleven great-nieces and nephews.
Bill lived his entire life in the Kindersley area, receiving his education at Mornington country school and MacKenzie High School in Kindersley. He began farming soon after and enjoyed working on the fields well into his 70s. Bill was an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He joined the Elks Club in 1968, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed curling in his senior years. He was an avid sports fan, keen on statistics in baseball, football and hockey. He was our family historian, recalling community events at our dinner tables. We will miss his stories and his sense of humour.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Anne, brother Ernie, sister-in-law Linda (Pembleton) Ochrey, and brother-in-law Horace Humeny.
A funeral service will be held Monday, November 27 at the Elks Hall, Kindersley, Saskatchewan at 1:00 p.m.
