It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vincent Downey on October 23, 2017 at the Juravinski Hospital in his 93rd year. Beloved husband for 67 years to Mary. Loving father of Catherine Anzovino (Michael), Vincent (Patty), Michael (Diane), and Paul (Erica). Dear Gramps of Steven (Erin), Jim (Ashleigh), Ray (Meghan), Jonathan, Gillian (Mark), Vanessa, Sarah (Mark), and Brendan (Dianna). Great Gramps of Ciara, Rylan, Mikayla, and Zachary. Dear brother of Paul (Marion). Predeceased by his parents Basil and Jesse and his brothers Fred, Basil, and George. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Vincent was a retired engineer with the Canadian National Railroad for over 40 years. He served as a proud Naval Veteran of WWII and he will be lovingly remembered for his love of family, walking and gardening. He loved to talk politics and sports and he especially loved his newspapers. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Thursday, October 26th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Blessed Sacrament Church on Friday, October 27th at 11am. Burial to take place at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
