Vasiliki Kallitsis

Vasiliki Kallitsis (nee Karayannopoulos) passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at Hospice Wellington on February 21st, 2017 in her 79th year. She is survived by her life partner of 60 years, Casino Cohort and loving husband, Kostas. She is the dearly loved mother of Jerry, Andy and John; extra special manula to her “Kouritsi Mou” Jane, Diane and Deb; and best yiayia in the world to her darling “Kouklas” Carolynn, Victoria, Sophia, Grace and Christina. At Heaven’s Gate, Vasiliki will be greeted by her parents, Evangelos and Sophia, and her Siblings, Maritsa, Alex, Martha, George, Christina and Jim… all of whom she adored. She is survived by her dearly loved brothers, Johnny & Jerry. She leaves behind her sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews… here and abroad… all of whom she loved as sisters, daughters and sons… plus many, many friends whom she considered as family. 49 Balmoral Drive will always hold memories of an open door, a warm embrace and the aroma of tyropitas and stuffed peppers right out of the oven. Vasiliki loved music and a party, the more the merrier. In recent years, the casino and the joy of winning at the slots became her passion. We wish her many grand prize jackpots in Heaven! Her family was her greatest joy, her three adoring sons are like no other and her five beautiful granddaughters made her so very proud. Vasiliki always said “There is one life to live”… and she lived it so very well.
Celebrate Vasiliki’s life from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph. Funeral Service to be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 50 Dovercliffe Road, Guelph.
There are no words… in English or Greek… to sufficiently express our sincerest gratitude for the “like family” care that Vasiliki and all of us received at our “home away from home” these past 13 days at Hospice Wellington. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington, Guelph Food Bank or St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Guelph would be very much appreciated by the family.
