Shirley Ethel Smith, 84, of New Glasgow, formerly of Alma, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Port Station, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late Roland and Sadie (Wellwood) Fenton.
Shirley was an adherent of Green Hill -Alma United Church and a former member of the Alma Women’s Institute and the Alma Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling , card parties, and loved to go to dances.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Shirley will be dearly missed by daughters, Linda Hogan, Truro; Dianne Smith, Stellarton; Karen Marshall (Shane), White Hill; grandchildren, Gordon MacNeil (Melissa), Bryan MacNeil (Holly), Lindsey Dicks (Michelle), Randi Magee (Matt), Mike Marshall (Melissa), Nathan Marshall (Erica) and Daniel Marshall (Allison); great grandchildren, Dustin, Emily, Seth, Jackquelynn, Wiljo, Oula, Kelsey, Clayton, Harmony, Emma, Jayden, and Katie.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard; son Randy, and infant daughter Cheryl Ann, sister Ethel and brother Laurie.
Shirley is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and Sunday from 2-2:45 pm. Her funeral service will be held 3 o’clock Sunday from Eagles Funeral Chapel with Rev. Donna Tourner Officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
