Obituary of Rolland “Rollie” Dawson
David Roland “Rollie” Dawson, of East Linton, passed away suddenly at his home, on Saturday morning, December 9th, 2017, at the age of 89 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Norma Dawson (nee Taylor) for 62 years who predeceased him on December 8th, 2015. Loving father of Leanne Sutherland (Doug), of Kemble, Lynn Caslick (Scott), of Cargill and John Dawson (Jodi), of East Linton. Proud grandfather of Kristy (Tyler), Paul (Alisha), Kelsey, Kerry (Les), Adam, Jenna (Dane), Alyssa (Kyler), Rylee (Bryton), Tyler and great-grandfather of Cooper, Alexis, Grace and Bryce. Dear brother of Capt. Grant Dawson (Elsbeth), Mabel Smith, Normie Dawson, Elaine Whetton (Bryan Taylor) and brother-in-law of John Taylor (Joy) and Joan Penrose. Predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Dorothy Dawson; his son, David Dawson; his siblings, Beth Woods (Alfred), Winnie Munson (Richard), Herbert Dawson, William Dawson, Ollie White (Elmer), Ida Thornley (Carl), Mary Howell (Lloyd), Doris West, Joan Dawson, two infant brothers, Lorne Smith, Gordon Sutherland, Doug Penrose, Gwen Mitchell (Roger); his parents-in-law, Gordon and Janet “Nettie” Taylor.
A Memorial Service for Rollie Dawson will be held in the Chapel of the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 – 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492) on Wednesday, December 13th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Spring interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Georgian Bluffs. If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society for Research or the Canadian Liver Foundation as an expression of sympathy.
