Rodney Watson Peck – 2017

It is with deep sorrow the family of the late Rodney Watson Peck, 76 of Bear River, NS announce his entrance into the Kingdom of his Saviour on Thursday, April 20th at Tideview Terrace in Digby, NS after a brief illness. Rodney went to rest peacefully with family by his side and will remain at rest until that glorious day when we will meet again in the presence of our Lord.
Rodney was a life-long member of the Bear River Advent Christian Church and a retired member of the Canadian Coast Guard. His long and varied working career was spent almost entirely at sea and the few land based occupations he tried never seemed to fit as he longed for the salt air.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 58 years, Darlene (Charlton): sons Stephen (Diane), Bradley (Rebecca) and Jeffrey (Donna) all of Bear River, Marvin (Karen) of East Uniacke; daughter Melody Henshaw (Gregory) of Bear River East; foster sons Tyler of Shelburne and Mark of Kentville; brothers Edgar, Oakley, Josh, Lindsey and Brinley and sisters Joy Shaw and Lexie Morgan. Also, left with the void created by the passing are nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Also surviving are over one hundred foster children who were fortunate enough to have received the love Rodney gave to all whom he came into contact with.
His love of children knew no bounds and the sight of a child always brought a smile to his face.
Rodney was pre-deceased by his parents Watson and Frances (Parker), a son Glendon and an infant brother Glendon.
A celebration of Rodney’s life will take place on Wednesday, April 26th, 2 pm at the Bear River Advent Christian Church, 1421 Landsdowne Road in Bear River, Pastors Ken Perkins and Earl Waterman officiating. Following the service there will be a reception in the Church basement which will allow for reminiscences of Rodney’s special life. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in remembrance of Rodney to the Bear River Advent Christian Church or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
