REXTON, NB – Rodney Hannay 72, of Rexton passed
away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital
Center on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Born in Chatham, NB he was
the son of the late Edward Hannay and late Mary (Daigle)
Hannay. Before retiring, Rodney was the owner of
Hannay’s Ltd in Rexton. He was a member of the
Richibucto Legion Branch No. 30, also the Rexton Snowmobile Club and
the Rexton Volunteer Fire Department. Rodney loved snowmobiling,
boating, the woods, gardening and of course, the Toronto Maple
Leafs.
Rodney will be sadly missed by his wife, Linda (Girvan)
Hannay of Rexton; three sons, Todd (Susan), Troy (Tracy), Brent
(Denise) all of Main River; one daughter, Heidi Warren (Darren) of
Methodist Point; nine grandchildren, Whitney, Tye, Taylor, Hillary,
Kassie, Chelsea, Sawyer, Noah, Talli; two step-grandchildren, Peter
and Laura; and three great grandsons, Lochlan, Keswick and
Sterling.
He is also survived by two brothers, Blaine Hannay (Donna) of
Mill Creek, Bruce Hannay (Jeanette) of Riverview; one sister, Eleanor
Hannay (Jim) of Rexton; mother-in-law, Jean Girvan of Rexton; and many
nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A
celebration of Rodney’s life will be held at St.
Andrew’s United Church in Rexton on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at
11:00 am. A private family burial will be held at a later
time. There will be a luncheon to follow the service at the
Rexton Curling Club. In lieu of flowers, if desired,
donations in Rodney’s memory may be made to St.
Andrew’s United Church, the West Galloway Cemetery and are
encouraged to participate #beccatoldmeto. Arrangements are
in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto
(523-4252).
