ROBERT WAYNE MCCORMICK
It is with an incredible sense of sadness and loss that we announce the passing of our dear father and loving husband, Robert (Rob) Wayne McCormick in the early morning of December 14, 2016.
Rob died peacefully in his sleep at Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, Anita by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rob kept up his positive, compassionate nature right up to the end, caring more about his family than himself, just as he did all his life. One of his final acts of love was his incredible will to live long enough to walk his daughter Spenser down the aisle – and he did. Spenser married Robbie Richard on December 11. Rob was a kind, loving friend to all, whether family or friends, and their home was always open to everyone anytime.
Rob is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Anita, his daughters Spenser (Robbie) Richard and Taryn (Chantal Froehler), his mother Mary, brothers Gordon (Kathy) and Gary (Claudia), sister Gloria Metcalfe (Bill Scholes) and sister-in-law Cindy, mother in law Crystal Primrose, as well as a large extended family and close friends who loved him. He was pre-deceased by his father Hector and brothers James (Jim) and David (Dave), father in law Glen Primrose.
Rob retired in 2012 after a long career with Telus and turned a life-long love of creating and fixing things to a renovating business with his friend, Charlie.
He was an active Kinsmen, always eager and willing to help where needed. His special love was the Pond Hockey tournament which he helped organize every year.
An active sports enthusiast, he especially loved hunting and fishing with his friends and family – but his greatest love was watching his daughter Taryn excel at hockey.
He will be greatly missed but his warm love will always surround us and the happy memories of a wonderful life he created for everyone will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Haying in the 30’s Cancer Support Society, or Alberta Cancer Foundation – Purple with a Purpose in support of pancreatic cancer research. Donations to the Alberta Cancer Foundation can be made online by going to their website and entering the cause.
At Rob’s request a celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
