It is with great sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Pitchers announces his passing after a courageous battle against lung cancer, on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the age of 69 years.
A native of Newlyn, Penzance, Cornwall, England, Bob immigrated to Canada in 1968 where he started his career in the oil and gas industry with Texaco in Montreal, Quebec. Throughout the next 30 years he moved around the globe always eager for the next challenge. In 1998 Sherwood Park, Alberta became his permanent home although he still continued to travel the globe for work, most notably the Middle East, Europe and South Korea. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf and watching sports of all kinds.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Jane; canine companion, Gus and children, Christopher (Debbie), Ryan (Nancy) and Cameron (Joanna). Bob will also be fondly remembered by his four granddaughters, Lorcan, Emily, Kira and Alexandria; sister, Betty (Goff); mother-in-law, Evelyn; sisters-in-law, Heather (John) and Kathy (Tom); brothers-in-law, Dale (Doreen) and John (Vayla). He will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents Enid and Bert Pitchers.
A private family cremation service has already taken place; however, the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life gathering early in 2018. Publication of the event will take place in the local newspaper and through various social media.
