Obituary for Rev. R. Neil Newbury
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on July 27, 2017, Rev. Roger Neil Newbury originally of La Scie, aged 84 years. Rev. R. Neil Newbury was ordained as a United Church minister after his graduation from Mount Allison University in 1966. During his ministry he served pastoral charges in Musgravetown, Nippers Harbour, Burin, Creston-Red Harbour, Botwood, Brigus, and finally Old Perlican where he retired and then moved to St. John’s for his retirement while spending his summers in Carmanville.
Neil, as he was best known, is predeceased by sister Blanche Norman, Lewisporte and Rev. Ambrose Newbury, Clarenville. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife and best friend Jessie, son David (Sandra), Sydney NS, daughter Debbie (Carl), Clarenville, son Daniel (Rhonda), Halifax NS, grandchildren; Michael, John, Jason, Kristen, Joshua, Skylar, and Sarah sister Rhoda Gomes, ON, brother; Gerald, (Hazel) Mount Pearl, sisters-in-law, Janet Goodyear, Carmanville and Kay Newbury, Clarenville as well as a large circle of family and friends.
Resting at Stacey’s Funeral Home, Carmanville on Sunday 30, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. and on Monday July 31, 2017 between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday August 1 from the Emmanuel United Church, Carmanville. Interment to take place at the United Church Cemetery, Carmanville South. As expressions of sympathy no flowers by request or donations may be made in Neil’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
