HARAMIS, Nicholas – Mr. Nicholas (Nick) Haramis at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre on Saturday December 16, 2017 at the age of 89 years. Beloved husband of 68 years to Marion (née Villeneuve) Haramis. Loved father of Susan McIntosh (Ross), Judy Bailey (Norman), Nicholas Jr. (Joyce), Michael (Lynne), Nancy Near (John), Peggy Haramis (Randy Pitts), Cathy Malyon (Jim), Rudy (Karen), Patrick (JoAnne), and Harry (Alice). Sadly missed by 29 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. Loving son of the late Konstantinos and Hilda (née Bricker) Haramis. Predeceased by his brother Howard (late Elsie) and his sister Amelia Mackwood (late Steve). Nick grew up in Renfrew, Ontario and was involved with the Haramis Restaurant. He moved to Maxville where he operated the King George Hotel. He was active in the community and was recognized in 2010 as an inductee into the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame. He had a storied career as a Mutual Life Agent for 22 years. While living in Cornwall was the President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In 2011 he was further recognized as the Cornwall Citizen of the year. Resting at the Wilson Funeral Home 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall where visitation will be held after Christmas on Friday December 29th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Mass of the Resurrection with Commendation and Farewell will be celebrated in St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church 434 Second Street, West, Cornwall on Saturday December 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Rite of Committal at a later date in St. Andrew’s Parish Cemetery. If so desired contributions in his memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
