Forever Loved
With heavy hearts, we announce Merle’s passing. Merle is now reunited with Jean, his beloved wife of 67 years.
Their love story began when Merle happened upon a beautiful, kind, young lady. Jean quickly fell in love with Merle’s witty sense of humour and playful smile. The couple then began their life’s journey together with a wedding dance to ‘Always’. Merle and Jean welcomed three daughters into the world and over the years their family grew to include many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The couple cherished spending time with family and their many, dear friends. Together, they loved travelling, dancing, golfing, curling, and cheering for the Oilers and Eskimos. They attended Strathearn United Church, as well as SEESA, and were always willing to lend a helping hand.
Sadly, shortly after their 90th birthdays, Jean passed away. Our family celebrated Jean’s life with a family memorial near the river’s edge on a beautiful fall day. Merle, missing his dear wife, went into hospital days later.
With Merle’s recent passing, we know Jean is again warmly embracing her best friend, the love of her life and her ‘Super Handyman in Heaven’. Merle and Jean will be loved and forever missed. Our family takes comfort knowing they are together again, and ‘Always’. We will celebrate Merle’s life at a private family memorial.
