It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Matt, a loving Husband, Father and Dede, on December 28, 2017 surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 87. Beloved husband and best friend to Annie (nee Subasich) with whom he shared 57 beautiful years of marriage. Treasured father to Karen and husband John Simone. Cherished Dede to Matthew, Brandon, and Michael who were his true pride and joy in his life. Predeceased by parents Mate and Bare Sebalj and survived by mother in-law Barbara Subasich and late husband Mike. Dear brother in-law to Barbara and husband John Marsich. Adored uncle to Kathleen, Darlene, Marlene and their families. Also survived by many cousins throughout Canada and Croatia. Matt retired from Chrysler Canada after 22 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Unifor Local 444 and a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church. A heartfelt thank you to the I.C.U. staff at WRH, Ouellette Campus for their compassionate and exceptional care provided to Matt and his family. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519.253.7234 on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Parish prayers Tuesday 8 pm. Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 9:15 am from the funeral home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Matt’s life, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund.
