Obituary for Mary Szybunka
On December 26, 2017, Mary Szybunka of Cherhill, AB passed away at the age of 87 years.
Lovingly remembered by her three children, Gary (Joyce) and their children, Sandy (Mike) Hammerlindl, David (Rebecca), Mark (Sheri), and Kristina (Kyle) Hoefels; Judy (Wally) Cherniwchan and their children, Jevan (Lauren) and Tasha; and Sharon (Stewart) Regnier and their children, Gina (Derek) Gervais and Ian; nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Drew, and Shaye Hammerlindl, Blake Szybunka, Sophia, Kate, and Matt Szybunka, Kamryn and Makayla Gervais; nephews, Mickey and Andy Yachimec; sisters-in-law, Mary Maygard, Ann Szybunka, Emily Szybunka, and Mary Szybunka; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Steve; parents, Steve and Annie Yachimec; brother, Michael; and sister-in-law, Verna.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Chateau Lac Ste Anne for the excellent care that Mom received in the five years she lived there. Also, thank you to the doctors and caregivers on Floor 8 East of the Misericordia Hospital.
Prayer Service Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton.
Funeral Service Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Cherhill Community Hall, Cherhill. Reverend Slavko Dumec officiating with interment in Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Cherhill. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2 or to a charity of one’s choice.
