Obituary for Marlene Lorenc (Newton)
LORENC, MARLENE JOY (nee Newton)
In loving memory of Marlene Joy Lorenc (nee Newton) who passed away at the Sudbury Regional Hospital on December 21, 2017.
Beloved wife of 45 years of Stanislav (Stan) Lorenc of Sudbury, ON. Dear daughter of Reg and Mary Newton (predeceased).
Church Parent of Emilia, Peter and Erik Luczak. Loving friend of Karen and John Luczak, Bill and Donna Andrews and Carmel and Glen Convery. Cousin of Paula Smith (Ken); Linda Thomas (Dave) and Pat Vanderberg (Bill) all of Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
Marlene was born and raised in Sudbury. She worked 36 years with the Sudbury Board of Education as a music consultant and classroom teacher. She retired in 1997. She and her husband loved to travel and enjoyed their busy lifestyle to the fullest, visiting all pars of the world. She and Stan spent much time on Manitoulin Island on their boat “Casa Nova”. Marlene enjoyed cruising and visiting exotic places. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Sudbury, where she acted as Clerk of Session, an elder, Church School teacher, Women’s Association member, choir member and Board of Managers member. She actively participated in all of the Church’s ministries and fellowship.
She loved nature, especially birds, gardening, needlepoint and visiting with relatives and friends.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, on Friday, January 5th, 2018 at 11am. (Friends may gather in the chapel after 10:45am Friday). Interment will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Knox Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or charity of your choice would be appreciated. (Cheques only).
