Marion Letitia Murray
1932-2017
Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on
November 22, 2017 with her family by her side, Marion Letitia
(McCumber) Murray, wife of William Thompson Murray of Caithness NB.
Born in Upper L’Etang NB on February 16, 1932, she was a daughter of
the late William and Iva (Stewart) McCumber. A loving wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother, in addition to her husband William,
she is survived by her children: Mary (Frank) Clark of Caithness NB,
Allen (Frannie) Murray of St. George NB, Douglas (Connie) Murray of
Caithness NB and Elizabeth (Don) Townsend of Rothesay NB;
grandchildren: Jan (Darren) Tarr, Leanne (Joe) Furlong, Alyson Murray
(Gordon), Matthew (Jenna) Murray and Daniel Townsend; five
great-grandchildren: Allie, Brielle, Ava, Cruz and Jax; numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Marion was
predeceased by her brothers: Gordon, Vernon, Hazen and Warren; and
sisters: Helen Frost, Lillian Murray and Greta Burton. Marion was the
last surviving member of her immediate family.
Prior to retirement, Marion worked for many years as a packer for
Connor’s Brothers Limited. She enjoyed remaining active, even in her
later years she participated in various sports and outdoor activities.
Known in her family as a “woodswoman” Marion enjoyed hauling
wood, making wreaths and just being outside. She was a loving
grandmother whose grandchildren meant the world to her and she looked
forward to their many games of dominos. Her fun loving spirit and
loving heart will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
The family would like to send a sincere thanks to the staff of both
the Emergency and ICU departments at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Also, a big thank you to Rev. Mary Ann Langmaid. The love, compassion
and support shown to our family these last few days will always be
remembered with great gratitude.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26
Portage Street, St. George NB. As keeping with Marion’s wishes, there
will be no visitation. A service will be held from the St. George
Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday at 4:00 pm with Rev. Mary Ann Langmaid
officiating. In Marion’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s
choice would be appreciated by the family.
