Obituary for Maria Gerace
Maria Gerace ( nee Nadile), age 87 years passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2017 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Maria was born April 24, 1930 in Mongiana VV, Italy to parents Graziano and Emma Nadile. She married Antonio Gerace in 1949 and had welcomed 2 children Rocco Gerace and Giovanna Scopacasa.
Maria was a kind hearted soul who devoted her life to family. She always put others first before herself. She was the most hardworking dedicated woman.
Maria is survived by her son Rocco (Mila) Gerace and daughter Giovanna (Frank) Scopacasa in Canada, by her brothers in Italy Antonio (Angela) Marcello (Santina), Rocco (Angela), Rosario (Marianne) and sister in Switzerland Yolanda (Atilio) as well as sister-in-law Giuseppina as well as numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren in Canada and Italy.
Maria was predeceased by her loving husband Antonio Gerace, by her brother and sister-in-law in Italy Peppino & Annina and brother Carmello.
Funeral services for the late Maria Gerace will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017 leaving the Sargent & Son Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. to St. Anthony R.C. Church for Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 am, celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. An interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
