La célébration de
Margery “Marnie” Eleanor Gardner-McCall

11 décembre 2017
Of Toronto, Ontario passed away on December 11th, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, at the age of 92. Margery was born in Toronto on May 15, 1925 to Flora and Harvey Dodds. After graduating from Branksome Hall Girls School in 1943, Marnie worked for a numbers of years at McLean Hunter Publishing. In 1946, Marnie married Archibald Gardner and immediately started raising a family of three boys. Archie and Marnie were married for 27 years. Following Archie’s death, Marnie remarried and enjoyed over 30 years of life with Allan McCall of London Ontario. Marnie is pre-deceased by Archibald Gardner, Allan McCall and step-sister Lorna Linklater, deeply loved and sadly missed by her sister Shirley (Saylor), by sons Cameron (Judy), Ian (Sam) and Allan (Cathy), grandchildren Charles, Christa, Taegan, Tyler, Cameron and Wesley and great grandchildren Ruby, Cole and Jacob, step family Brian McCall (Jane) and Dr. Marnie McCall (Ken), step grandchildren Megan, Andrew (Kirstin), Marnie and Duncan McCall. While Marnie grew up and lived in Toronto and later in London, her true love was her Muskoka life! As a young girl she summered at Pinelands and then as an adult enjoyed her cottage on East Bay, Lake Muskoka and finally her home on Brandy Lake just outside of Port Carling. Her father started the first downhill ski manufacturing company in Canada, so it is no surprise that she was an enthusiastic and very good downhill skier – a passion she passed on to her three boys. Marnie was also an avid and skilled gardener and an accomplished ornithologist who could easily identify a bird simply by listening to their song. She was deeply dedicated to her family, the arts – she had to have her classical music on at all times – and nature above all. Her life was full of family and friends, time spent helping every one she touched feel welcome and loved and sharing her love of the wilderness. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held with family and friends at Turner & Porter, Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane subway, on Friday December 15, 2017 at 1 p.m., visitation one hour prior. A private family interment will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to Nature Canada www. naturecanada.ca
