Margaret Elizabeth Trowsdale - March 24

Margaret Elizabeth Trowsdale – March 24, 1915 – April 10, 2017

Born Margaret Elizabeth Dickson in Esquimalt B.C., passed away in Victoria General Hospital, after a life-time of faithful service to others and her Lord. Beloved sister-in-law to Ruth Dickson, step-mother to Colin (Claire) Trowsdale, aunt to David (Lise) & Donald (Joyce) Smith, June (Don McDonald), Doug (Leslie) and Craig (Deb) Dickson, Nancy (Ross McLaughlin) and Jean (Arthur Marcellus), step-grandmother to Ethel (Rob Rutherford), Gail (Larry Wharf), Rachel Cox (Randy Bosch), Paul, Brian (Sharon), William (Mary), Mark and John Edgington, Louise (Flavio Cianflone), Ruth (Guy Bourassa), Denise (Jean Overall), and Colleen Baragar (Don Higgins), great aunt, step-great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to many more Dickson, Edgington and Trowsdale descendants, Margaret was pre-deceased by her husband Percy (Pat) Trowsdale, sister Ruth and brothers Gordon, Donald, and George.
A huge loving positive spirit in a spunky, pint-sized body, Margaret was a talented musician, career woman, active volunteer, and accomplished needlewoman. Over the years, several churches and chapels valued both her organ and piano abilities. As BC Telephone’s first female supervisor (installation and repair crews), she was also active in the BC Tel Credit Union. After retirement, Margaret traveled with her husband and then with various friends.
She worked in the BC Tel Pioneers and Memorial Pavilion shops, and volunteered at Broadmead Lodge, which honoured her in 2008 for 25 years of volunteer service there. A life-long Presbyterian, Margaret was always looked up to in her pew-in-the-balcony, routinely climbing the stairs until days before her passing!
Many thanks to Dr. James Stockdill, the staff of The Wellesley, and of Vic General 6D North for their caring attention to Margaret’s wellbeing. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on Saturday, May 6, at 2:00 p.m., in the Magnolia Room, The Wellesley, 2800 Blanshard Street, Victoria, BC. Donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or the Salvation Army.
