MacKean, Billie
2017-08-06
It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend William “Billie” Harry MacKean, age 69, of Loch Broom, NS.
Originally from Westville, the eldest son of the late George and Eva (Boates) MacKean, and son in law to the late Mike and Tena (MacPherson) McDonald.
In his early years he was a dedicated volunteer fireman (Linacy Dept), enjoyed camping with family and friends in Salt Springs and PEI. Billie was the #1 Blue Jays fan since the snow fell on the field 40 years ago. Although he was never able to attend a live game, he cheered the team on at home for every game.
Billie is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Roberta (McDonald) MacKean; children Yvonne Barbour (Blair), Cheryl Newcombe (Mark), Stacey Hardy (Greg), Tara Paynter and William Harry MacKean Jr.; grand children Piper, Bailey and Willow Barbour; Kaleigh and Logan Newcombe; Hayden, Kolby, Dominic and Karley Hardy; Cameron and Eva Paynter; sisters Janie Sampson (Bob), Barb MacEachern (Bob); brother-in-law Mike McDonald (Joyce); and sister-in-laws Andrella Hodder (Fred) and Rebecca McDonald.
He was predeceased by brother James “Jimmie” MacKean.
Billie is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. His funeral service will be held 1 o’clock Wednesday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Arthur Bourre officiating. Burial will be in St. Bees Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit and the V.O.N., both who have touched Billie with their caring and kindness over the past few years.
