Yake; Mabel Frances Eileen Yake age 89, of Swift Current, SK passed away December 13, 2017 at the Meadows. The Funeral Service was held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from First United Church with Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. The pianist was Sharon Veer. The Life Tribute was presented by grandsons Jason Tangen and Cody Yake. The Ushers were nephews Ron Yake, Tom Shannon, Corey Baldwin and Dale Nelson. The Pallbearers were grandsons Shawn Tangen, Ryan Tangen, Jason Tangen, Tyler Yake, Cody Yake and nephew Greg Thoreson. Honorary Pallbearer was Markus Jürgensen. The Interment Service took place at Mount Pleasant Burial Park. Eileen is survived by her daughter, Gayle (Darrel) Tangen and their family; Shawn (Erin McKay), Julie and Jamie McKay; Ryan (Corissa), Cole and Gavin; Jason, Emma and Alyssa Hilmoe and special friend Rozanne Laverdiere; Son Bayne (Jayanne Wood), Tyler and Cody Yake, Markus Jürgensen (Saskia), step grandson Andrew Dingwall; Brother Ervin (Louise) Shannon, sister Norma Thoreson and all her nieces and nephews who were very special to her. A special friend Nadine Sanderson. She was predeceased by parents Oscar and Bernice Shannon; husband Stanley Yake; infant daughter Marlis and infant son Dwight; grandson Kyle; brother and sister-in-law Don and Francis Shannon, sister and brother-in-law Iona and Allen Thoreson, brother-in-law Ron Thoreson; mother-in-law and father-in-law Byron and Jessie Yake; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Budd and Phyllis Yake and Ferne and Cyril Murray. Eileen was born on the family farm in the Hazlet District on July 28, 1928. She attended school in Hazlet and then Normal School in Moose Jaw and summers in Saskatoon. She married Stanley Yake on July 30, 1948 in Gull Lake. Eileen taught school in Consul, Simmie, Hazlet and Swift Current. She was a member of the Swift Current Superannuated Teachers, Bridge clubs and the Swift Current Seniors Club. Eileen enjoyed bridge, paper tole, knitting, sewing, gardening, sitting on the deck watching the birds and squirrels and being the family barber, but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and her yard, garden and flowers. She always said she had the best view in the city. Going through Mom’s wishes and memories book, she stated “I wouldn’t change anything. I had a good life. I was never rich but always had sufficient. I have many good friends and a wonderful family.” Eileen will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends. In her memory, friends may make a memorial donation to the Salvation Army or the Swift Current S.P.C.A. Warren’s Funeral Home in care of the arrangements.
