“Well done thy good and
faithful servant” speaks well of the life of Lila Gertrude
Babineau who passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2016 at
the home of her daughter, Karen Ackerson, where she has resided for a
number of years. Lila was
88.
Born at Grand Manan, NB on
July 7, 1928, Lila was a daughter of the late Orbin and Jennie (Tidd)
Raymond. Lila’s husband, Gerald Babineau, predeceased her in
1997.
Lila was a member of Smythe
Street Cathedral, Fredericton. She was an active and integral part of
City Outreach Ministry which was founded and directed by her late
husband.
Lila leaves behind sons Bill
(Vicki) Babineau of Charters Settlement and Jeff (Patty) Babineau of
Minden, ON; daughters Peggy Blunston (Jack) of Penniac and Karen
Ackerson of Lincoln; 8 grandchildren, Brad (Kelly), Lyndsay (Steve),
Jason (Jessica), Cory (Diane), Jennifer (Paul), Stacey, Seth and
Jocelyn; 11 great-grandchildren, Courtney, Brianna, Jacob, Joel,
Jordon, Tanner, Savannah, Cohen, Haleigh, Ryan and
Jaylin.
Besides her parents and
husband Gerald, Lila was predeceased by son-in-law Edward
“Ed” Ackerson; brothers Gerald, Douglas and Beverly; also
sisters Reida Baillie and Mildred
Doone.
A service celebrating the
life of Lila Babineau will be held from Bishop’s Funeral
Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at
2:00 PM with Pastor Wayne Flowers officiating. The family will receive
condolences at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until service
time. Interment in the Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fredericton Homeless Shelters, 65
Brunswick St., Fredericton, NB E3B 1G5 would be appreciated by the
family.
The family wish to thank
Dr.’s Jeff Barton and Bea Sainz for their excellent care and
concern for Lila’s well-being and also to Lila’s
devoted caregivers, Hope Piers and Barbara Vincent for the kind and
loving care Lila received.
