Obituary
With great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend Leo at the age of 89.
Born in Edmonton, raised in Calgary, Leo was an unabashed supporter of the city for over 60 years since returning to Edmonton in the early 1950’s.
Leo was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Joan in (2012). He is survived by his 5 children: Robert (Anna (d)), James, (Vivian), John (Barbara), Barbara (Bernard) Bastien and Paul; 7 grandchildren; 6 great- grandchildren; numerous friends.
Leo’s passions were his family, his church and his community. He remained active for decades with The Knights of Columbus, as a volunteer in Civic and Provincial politics and as a member and fixture of the YMCA Jamie Platz Centre. He remained active and engaged in his interests including the Oilers and Eskimos until the end and will be remembered with fondness by all with whom he came in contact.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church, 9420 – 163 Street on Friday, May 26, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family would like to give thanks for the caring and compassion of the staff at the Misericordia Hospital.
Donations may be made to the YMCA Strong Kids campaign.
