Lawrence ‘Larry’ Taplin
1938-2017
Lawrence Joseph “Larry” Taplin, age 79,
passed away November 7th, 2017, surrounded by family in the
Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in New
Glasgow, he was a son of the late Joseph and Maud (Wilson) Taplin.
Larry was employed as a Signal Maintainer with the CNR for 37 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Karen (Grant) Taplin;
sons: David Taplin (Christie) of Pugwash; Jamie Taplin (Kim)
of Greely; ON; daughter, Tanya Taplin (Pete) of Ottawa; ON;
granddaughters: Mary Katelyn, Kailey and Kiley; grandsons:
Riley and Todd (Jenna); great grandchildren: Colton and Ali Rae; step
grandchildren: Cadence and Kyle. He is also survived by brother, Herb
Taplin (Helen), Truro; sisters: Sandra Roy (Rob), Charlottetown, PEI;
Karen MacLaughlin (Lowell) Lochaber; and a niece and several
nephews. A visitation will take place on Friday, November
10thfrom 2-4 and 7-9 pm, at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave.,
New Glasgow. A funeral service will be held on Saturday,
November 11that 2 pm at the Trinity United Church in New Glasgow with
Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to the SPCA, Palliative Care Aberdeen Hospital, or Trinity United
Church, New Glasgow.
