Augustinovic, Kata “Kathy”
Surrounded by her loving family, Kata passed away peacefully at the Freeport Campus of Grand River Hospital on Friday, March 10, 2017 at the age of 67. She was born in Strasnik, Croatia on February 16, 1950.
Beloved wife of Milan for 43 years, loving mother of Tihomir “Tim” (Tarah) and cherished grandmother of Kaja and Luka. Beloved daughter of the late Stjepan and Jaga Ivanovic. Dear sister of Mara (Stjepan) Staresinovic, Slavica “Sylvia” (Ivan) Juranovic and the late Tomo Ivanovic. Survived by her sister-in-law Ljubica. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Canada and Croatia. Special thanks to Dr. Duncan Schwarz and nurses Elaine, Monika, Janet, Rita, Nicole and Lenka from Freeport Hospital for their compassionate care. Thank you as well to all the family, friends and co-workers who came to support us during Kata’s stay at Freeport. Kata was an active member of the Croatian Catholic parish, well-known as a teacher of Croatian School. She will be greatly missed by the whole Croatian Community.
Kata’s family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2017 and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Holy Rosary 8 p.m. Monday. The Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Croatian Church, 180 Schweitzer Street, on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Interment Williamsburg Cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation – Freeport Health Centre or Holy Family Croatian Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
