Karen Faith Black – 1967 – 2017

1967 – 2017
Obituary of Karen Black
Miss Karen Faith Black was born in Canaan Forks, NB to Wayne Black and Laura (Ravn) Black.
Karen graduated from Petitcodiac Regional High School in 1985 and had a great love for music in her younger days. She played guitar and sang like an angel. Her gift for music would certainly have taken Karen places, but at that time, her second love for horses began to emerge. For a period of time, Karen “ate, slept and breathed” all things horse related. She attended shows and competitions and at one point purchased her own team. She was so proud of her big, black, beauties. Karen, in general, really had a passion for all animals and adored her pets over the years with an extra special connection to her dog “Bo”.
In her late 40’s, Karen went back to school and attended NBCC – Miramichi Campus successfully completing a degree from the Criminal Justice Program. She had been employed by Community Youth Services for the last 3 years as a Human Services Counselor and very much enjoyed caring for the special children who reside at Eden Park and Tara House. This sudden loss of Karen will be felt by her co-workers and the children. She will be missed.
Karen was loved deeply by her family. She will always be fondly remembered and never forgotten. She will be forever in the hearts of her father, Wayne and his wife Roxanne Dubois-Black of Hunters Home; her mother, Laura Black of Cambridge Narrows; her brothers: Dewayne and his wife Maureen of Harewood, Randal and his wife Cindy of Mill Cove and Leigh Black of Prince George, BC; her sisters: Anita Lawton of Cambridge Narrows and Wanda Black of Woodstock; her aunts and uncles: Barb McNamara, Victor Corey, Stuart Black and his wife Eleanor, Arthur Ravn and his wife Sheila, Sarah Price and her husband Wayne, Muriel McKillop and her partner Charles Babbin, Kathy Giles and her husband Cliff and David Ravn and his wife Helen; her nieces and nephews: Michelle Black (David), Brooke Black (Justin), Lucas Black, Evan Black, Kane Lavoie (Ashley), Denver Black (Samantha), Colton Black, Waylon Black (Megan), Amelia Black (Trevor), Shayna Thorne, Noah Lawton, Mark Rogers, Kharah Black and Hayley Black and her grand nieces and nephews: Cayden, Corey, Cody, Caleb, Bryson, Jacob, Sophia and Terrance “Toad” and many more extended family and friends.
It is with great sadness, that the family of Karen Faith Black announces her unexpected passing, due to medical complications. On Monday, November, 13, 2017 Karen went home to be with the Lord, at the age of 50.
Karen was predeceased by her maternal grandparents: John and Bertha Ravn; her paternal grandparents: Irvin and Bertha Black; her aunt, Joyce Corey and by her uncle, John McNamara .
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Friday 1-3 and 6-8pm . A service celebrating Karen’s life will take place Saturday, November 18, 2017 from the New Canaan Baptist Church at 1pm with interment in the Canaan Forks Cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a time of fellowship and refreshment held in the Church Hall.
In lieu of flowers, if you are considering a memorial donation, the family has recommended the Community Youth Services (69 Eden Park Lane, Dutch Valley, NB E4E 3N2) or the SPCA.
