Obituary of Joan Nickerson
JOAN ELIZABETH NICKERSON
Age 67, of Cornwallis, Joan passed away December 12, 2017. Born in Barrington, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Hilary (Crowell) Brannen. She is survived by her common-law partner, Roy Stubbs; daughters Liz, Dartmouth; Anita (Kevin), Kentville; Paula (Rick), Clyde River; and son, Johnny (Melanie), The Hawk; stepdaughters: Jennifer Stapleton, Sechelt, BC; Cindy Stubbs, Winnipeg, MB and Heather Stubbs, Winnipeg, MB; grandchildren: Tyler, Zachary, Cody, Jared, Paige, Michaela, McKenzie, Matthew, Tristan and Morgan; great-granddaughters: Meadow and Jayla; sisters: Mille (Dave) Legere, Kingston; Sharon Wiese, Clark’s Harbour; and brother Gary Crowell, South Side; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Stanley Brannen and step-daughter, Nadean Stubbs. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed.
Joan enjoyed spending her time helping the community and you would often find her selling poppies, counting bingo cards or cooking something for a community event. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years and a Lions member for the past 18 years where she also served as the Bingo Chairperson. She was also a member of Stone Church, Clark’s Harbour.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. There will be no visitation. Memorial Service and Celebration of her Life will take place on Sunday, December 17, 2017, 1:00 pm, at the Deep Brook-Waldec Lions Club.
