Jeanne Winters
Jeanne Winters of Saskatoon (formerly Watrous) passed away at her residence on December 7, 2017 attended by her family. Jeanne will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lynne (Walter) Keffer and Danielle (Tom) Wieler; grandsons, Jarit (Lisa) Fraser and family, Kaelyn, Rylan and Teegan; Nelson (Lisa) Fraser and family, Ethan and Bren (Sarah) Hardy; sister, Marjorie (Ted) Shier of Vancouver and brother-in-law, John Agar of Salmon Arm, together with many nieces, nephews and friends. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, Earle Winters; parents, James and Doris Gibney; brothers, Eric, Les, Ralph, Tom and sister, Maude as well as her daughter’s father, Walter Bridle. Mom was born in Lanigan, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm near Drake. She was the fifth child in a family of 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Saskatoon has been home for Mom since the late 60’s. She started to work for Revenue Canada in 1968 retiring in 1989. She made many long lasting friendships while there. Mom and Earle Winters met in 1968 and married in 1972. They enjoyed 30 plus years of friendship, fun and travel. Family was very important to Mom. She enjoyed the company of her daughters and their husbands. She was especially proud of her grandsons and their young families. She kept links alive between the cousins and generations who have spread across this wide country and will look to us to continue this important task. In honour of Jeanne, reconnect with that individual you’ve been meaning to contact. She would be pleased if this brought you closer to someone you care for. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St., first right past Briargate Rd in Saskatoon). Private interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at a later date in 2018. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jeanne’s memory to the Saskatchewan Cancer Society (200 – 4545 Parliament Avenue, Regina, SK S4W 0G3) or the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan (1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, SK S7L 3R5).
