Jean Deines - June 6

Jean Deines – June 6, 1916 – March 23, 2017

In Loving Memory Of
Jean Deines
Jane “Jean” Deines
Jane “Jean” Deines, resident of DeBolt, AB, formerly of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at home in DeBolt, at the age of 100 years.
Jean was born in Auchtertool, Fife, Scotland on June 6, 1916. Her parents immigrated to Canada with their seven youngest children in 1928. Although both parents eventually returned to Scotland, the seven children remained in Canada.
Jean made her way west, living in Saskatoon, then moving to Calgary when she was 14. She met John Deines there, married in 1939, and raised their four children together. During their 57 years of marriage they remained in the same family home (since 1958) and looked forward most to family dinners and visits.
Jean was always known for her sharp mind, honesty, feistiness, and Scottish charm. She remained living in her own home independently after her husband, John, passed away in 1996, until 2015.
She had given up many of her hobbies, such as knitting, because of poor eyesight, but continued playing Whist at Ramsay Community Hall until 2014.
She will be sadly missed by her children: John “Jack” Allan (Anne) Deines, William “Neil” (Pam) Deines, and Loretta Jean Deines; grandchildren: Shelly Copping, John (Ryah) Deines, Dieter (Amy) Deines, Travis (Kim Nicole) Villeneuve, Petra (nee Deines) (Todd) Reidy, and Desiree (Tony Miguel) Deines; great-grandchildren Declan Copping, Arden Copping, Samara Deines, Lyra Logan, Kashtyn Villeneuve, and Leland Villeneuve, Boston Reidy, Blaize Reidy, Ethan Deines, Jager Deines, and Coen Deines.
She was predeceased by her husband John Deines, son Donald Mervin Deines, and granddaughter Heather Villeneuve (nee Deines).
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Calgary, AB.
