Obituary of James Smith
SMITH: James Oliver “Jimmy”-
Jimmy Smith, the former owner of James Oliver’s Catering, passed away peacefully at Windsor Regional Hospital – Ouellette Campus on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the age of 66.
Born in Chatham, Jimmy was the son of the late Oliver W. and Blanche (Davis) Smith.
Beloved twin brother of John W. Smith (Debbie), and brother William (Bill) Smith (Helen).
Also survived by several nieces, Amanda (Nick), Stephanie and Rachel (Shawn) and nephew Mike J. Smith (Tracey).
Jimmy was a character that loved life and people loved him. He was fun, dancer extraordinaire, artistic and not one to follow the norm. He will be sorely missed by the many friends he made near and far: New York, Puerto Rico, Galveston Texas, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Windsor as well as his much loved cats.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and nursing staff on the 7th floor West of Ouellette Campus, the Windsor Aids Society and especially Dr. Jeff Cohen for the excellent care of our brother.
Jimmy has requested casual dress for all family and friends for his visitation and funeral service.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street Chatham on Thursday from 3:00 – 5:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday December 15, 2017.
Donations made in memory of Jimmy to the Chatham AIDS Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
