Jaap (known as Jacob) was born in the Netherlands on September 28, 1928, passed away on December 21, 2017 at Viking, Alberta. He was the 2nd of 6 children born to Keimpe and Sietska Veenstra of Tietjerk, Netherlands.
Jacob leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Anne (Antje) Veenstra , (67 years of marriage), his daughter Catherina and son Keimpe (Jim) and Maridell Veenstra: 4 grandchildren, Karyn (Bruce) Preston, Matt (Anna) Veenstra, Scott (Sherry) Veenstra, and Rebecca Veenstra (Heath Carlson): and 4 Great grandchildren: Cooper, Brooke, Lindsay and Zoey. His siblings: Brother Jetse, Sisters, Griet and Jetske.
He was predeceased by his grandson Jack and other family members.
A Celebration of Jacob’s life will be held at the Viking Alliance Church, Viking, Alberta on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Darren Anderson officiating. Interment will be at the Viking Cemetery, Viking, Alberta.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon’s International, Box 3619, Guelph, Ontario, N1H 7A2, The Stollery Children’s Hospital, 8440 – 12 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T6G 2B7 or to the Ronald McDonald House, 7726 – 107 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta T6E 4K3.
