Ignatius Joseph Coles
It is with great loss and sadness that the family of Ignatius
“Nish” Coles announces his sudden passing at his home in
Springdale on Thursday, November 9th at the age of 85 years.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife
Leah; daughter Della (Wilson) Galliott of Fort McMurray AB;
step-children: Cathy (Darrin) Penney of Springdale NL, Valerie
(Sterling) Fowlow of South Brook NL, Michael (Rhonda) House of Hawkes
Bay NL; grandchildren: Christina (Braeden) McDonald, Melissa,
Danielle, Chantelle (Trevor), Jessica, Jenelle, Kelsey and Kolby;
great grandchild Zoey; brothers and sisters: Rita Gould of Sydney NS,
Louise (Clarence) Ryan of Port Saunders, Josie (Kaz) Savitzski of
Sydney, Helena (Bob) Phillipo of Sydney, Stella (Harry) Tighe of Port
Hawkesbury and Gertie Campbell (Clayton Dickson) of Sydney, Jean Reid
(Dan) of Sydney, Jenny Dornagic (Hal) of Sydney, Anthony (Marie) Coles
of Sydney and Deloris Coles of Sydney.
He was predeceased by parents Billy and Rachael Coles;
brothers: York Coles, and George Coles; sister-in-law Loretta Coles;
brother-in-law Jim Gould.
Nish worked hard all his life, first as a masonry floor
finisher in Sydney and later came back to Port Saunders and started
fishing with his buddy John Lavers. Nish loved going to the cabin,
fishing, hunting, and cutting logs and firewood.
The family invite friends to visit at St. Joseph’s RC Church
Port Saunders, Saturday 7-9 pm and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A
funeral service will be held at a date and time yet to be determined
followed by cremation as per his wishes.
