Harold “Huck” Gates
1948-2017
Harold “Huck” Gates,
69 years of age, of Amherst, passed away peacefully surrounded by his
loving family at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on
Saturday, October 21, 2017. Born in River Hebert, he was a son of the
late John & Cora (Miller) Gates.
Huck
was a Boilermaker by trade in Springhill for 40 plus years
He enjoyed the outdoors, either puttering around the yard or out
hunting in the woods. He played darts at the Joggins
Legion. After marrying Emma, he took his step-children as
his own.
He will be dearly missed by his wife
Emma, Amherst; step-children, Travis (Averil) Foster, Moncton,
Michelle (Billy) Renton, Moncton and Tammy (Sandy) Dwyer, Maccan, NS;
4 grandchildren, Brandon Dwyer, Brianna Dwyer, Delia Renton and Brynn
Renton; siblings Doreen Hurley, Maccan, Vera Mills, Joggins, Cora
“Mamie” Hoeg, Joggins, James “Jim” Gates, Kamloops
BC, Margaret (Perry) White, Amherst, NS, many nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Annie
Dauphinee and brothers, Arthur, Henry, nephews
Perry Hoeg , Bernie Mills, niece, Carol Dauphinee.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of
Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church
St., Amherst, NS, (902-667-8777) from where visiting will be held on
Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. with a funeral service will
be held immediately at 3 p.m. . Burial to follow in the River Hebert
Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorial
contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
