Eugene J. Davenport
1927-2017
Eugene Joseph Davenport, of Bath, passed away on Wednesday, December
13, 2017, at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, NB. He was
born in Bath on September 16, 1927, to the late Joseph and Mary
(Drost) Davenport. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Joyce
(Campbell) Davenport; 3 brothers, Leo, Edward and Bernard; 5 sisters,
Phyllis, Leola, Janet, Donna and Bernice; and daughter- in- law, Clara
(Pickard) Davenport.
Eugene is survived by 2 sons, John Davenport (Jane) of Quesnel, BC and
Robert Davenport (late Clara) of Florenceville-Bristol, NB; a
daughter, Sharon Brennan (Pat) of Fredericton, NB; a sister, Marjorie
Stavalone (late Camille) of Connecticut; 10 grandchildren; and 6
great- grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and extended
family members.
Prior to his retirement from the furnace business at the age of 80,
Eugene painted and built houses in his younger years. He still had
time to share his historical knowledge of Bath and surrounding areas.
Stories were plentiful and versions numerous, depending on his
audience.
Special thanks to Dr. Colin and the nurses at the Upper River Valley
Hospital, and to the staff of River View Manor for their dedication
and kindness.
As requested, there will be no funeral. A private family graveside
interment will be held at a later date in the Bristol Community
Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to River View Manor
or Dun Roamin would be appreciated.
