Death Notice
Peacefully, on Friday, November 24, 2017, surrounded by her family at Bluewater Health, Elena Anna Maria Michetti of Sarnia, passed away at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Alberto Michetti (2010). Loving mother of Luisa (Paul) Stevens, Dina (Dave) Somers and Carlo Michetti. Cherished Nonna of Matthew (Sarah), Andrew (Rebecca), Chris, Nicole (Tim), Daniel (Sabaa), Ayleen, Noelle, Kieti and Luca. Dear sister of Ersilia (Giovanni), Ricardo (Iolanda), Gabrielle (Marcella), Virgilia (Giovanni), Sandarella (Davide), and Elvira (Donato) of Chieti, Italy, and Guido (Marisa) of Switzerland. Survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy, Canada, England, United States, and Switzerland. Predeceased by her parents Luigi and Lauretta DiMuzio. Elena was a member of St. Francis Cabrini CWL, Omers, and Italian Pensioners Club. She was born in Chieti, Italy on August 18, 1930 and eventually immigrated to Canada in 1959 to marry the love of her life, Alberto. Elena worked in Italy for the Red Cross as a cook. She was also retired from the St. Clair District School Board. Elena was a talented seamstress, a cook extraordinaire, and a pastry chef. Above all, she loved her grandkids dearly and enjoyed travelling. Family and friends will be received at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 1465 Lecaron Ave., Sarnia, on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Entombment to follow in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please).
Visitation
Family and friends will be received at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m.
Service
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 1465 Lecaron Ave., Sarnia, on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Entombment to follow in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
