Doreen passed away on May 21, 2017 at the Portage Lions Manor at the age of 91.
Predeceased by her husband Roy in 2008, her son Eric in 2017 and brother Denis Burfoot in 2008.
She is survived by daughter in law Darlene Taylor, children Beth (Richard) Farquhar, Pat (Lesley) Taylor, Peggy (Jeff) Yarema, Faye (Ric) Mann, 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and special family friend Nikki Hart.
Doreen was born in Saskatchewan and at a young age she moved to Reaburn, Manitoba. She married Roy in 1947 where they started farming. In 1968 they moved their family to Portage la Prairie and they continued farming. Doreen stayed on the farm until her move to the Manor in 2016.
Her life centered on her devotion to Jehovah God this included attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Portage. She took great joy in sharing her bible based hope of the Kingdom blessings with people in the community.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff on Walker Road at Lions Prairie Manor for their compassionate care.
Memorial service for Doreen will be held at the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road South, Portage la Prairie on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 2.p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
There’s still time to send flowers to the Memorial Service at the Omega Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on May 24, 2017.
