Obituary for Doreen Dales
Doreen Frances Dales was born at her family home near Finnie, SK, to Lucy Dora (Thompson) and James Murfin. After completing her education, she was employed at various locations, including Chow’s Café, Cameron Place, Parkland Community College and Davison School. Doreen made lifelong friends wherever she went. She was especially loved by the children at Davison School as a special “Grandma” figure to them.
Doreen married Robert (Buster) Dales on November 5, 1953, and they have had almost 64 wonderful years together. During that time, they were blessed with four children, Colin, Scott, Kevin and Lori.
Doreen had many hobbies throughout the years; she enjoyed reading and doing puzzles, gardening and bowling. She spent time at the lake as the family was growing up. Doreen also enjoyed the years she spent working with the women’s group at the United Church in Melville. Most of all she enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doreen was predeceased by her sister, Agnes Murfin, in infancy and brother, Robbie Murfin; her parents, James and Lucy (Thompson) Murfin; sisters Winnie Grimes and husband Ernie Grimes, Esther Sawchin and husband Edwin Dales; brothers-in-law Stewart Wurts, Wes Matthews, Miles Standish, Lewis Dales and Hector Loveridge; and sisters-in-law Doris Kraigsley and Celia Matthews.
She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Robert (Buster) Dales; four children and their families: son Colin (Sandie) Dales of McBride Lake, SK, grandchildren Robert (Nikki) Dales of Toledo, OH, Ryan Hill of Yorkton, SK, Sean (Stefanie)Hill of Regina, SK, and Brennan Hill (Jackie Anderson) of Calgary, AB; son Scott (Cheryl) Dales of Melville, SK, grandchildren Kylan Dales (Eili Tytlandsvik) of Weyburn, SK, and Kristie (Todd) Walker of Souris, MB; son Kevin (Enid) Dales of Portage la Prairie, MB, grandchildren Travis (Kristen) Dales of Boissevain, MB, Jayce and Huntley, and Michael Dales (Caitlin Bouvier) of Boissevain, MB; daughter Lori (Reg) Rivers of Melville, SK, granddaughter Chantelle Rivers (Tyler Armstrong) of Melville, SK, Brielle and Lennex; sisters-in-law Janet Loveridge, Florence (Gordon) Matthews, Connie Standish and Joan Dales; and numerous nieces and nephews.
