There’s an open gate at the end of the road, through which each must go alone… Surrounded by family, friend and caring nurses, our loving mother and grandmother passed away at the Sarcee Hospice.
Born in Souris, Manitoba and raised in Roland, Donna moved to Calgary with three lifetime girlfriends in 1956. On June 11, 1960, she married Bent (2007) and together built a home and raised two children Myra (Mason) and Hedley (Lisa, Chase, Rhys, and Carly). In 1971, they moved to the community of Wildwood where she happily lived and enjoyed all that life offered. Working and retiring from the Calgary School Board, Donna went on to be active secretary and member of Bow Cliff Seniors. She travelled to many places with Hawaii and Denmark being her most memorable.
After selling the Wildwood home, Donna moved to Airdrie and then back to Calgary. Her hobbies of painting, sewing, knitting and socializing kept her busy. Mom was an avid gardener as well as a regular walker. Everyday for many years you could set your clock on her daily walks with her dog(s) to the top of Edworthy Park.
A Graveside Family Inurnment will be planned for a later date.
