Obituary for Donald Venantius MacLellan
Born Tuesday, 18th May, 1934 in the Town of Inverness, NS to the late Dr. Daniel MacLellan and Frances (MacLennan) MacLellan, Port Hood, NS, Donald V. MacLellan passed away on December 23, 2017 in Truro. Donald was a retired Merchant Seaman and a veteran of the Korean War, having served with 3 R.C.R. Canadian Army. He also served with the Corp of Commissionaires at Regina, Halifax and Truro. He also had a career as a chef and his culinary skills were enjoyed by family and friends. Donald was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Truro, NS. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 60 plus years having served with various branches across Canada ending up as a member of the Angus L. MacDonald Branch #132, Inverness. Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Phyllis Marie, sons Glenn and Paul of Peterborough, Ontario, Kimberly Anne (Kenrik), Sweden, and his grandchildren Mya, Holly and Ryan and Hayden. He will also be remembered by his siblings, Joan (Bill), Toronto , Elaine (George), Halifax, Carole (Paul), Richmond Hill, Jack (Lynn), North Bay, Anne (Steve), Wentworth and Port Hood, Brian, Stellarton as well as several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Colleen Belinda, his sister Pauline (Dr. C Melchor) and brother, Keith. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
