DONALD MOUSSEAU
August 4th, 1946 – December 21st, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donald Mousseau announce his passing at Riverview Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer.
He will be forever cherished by his devoted wife and constant companion of 48 years, Lorna, son Chris (Jill, children Garrett, Wyatt and Everett) and daughters Tammy (Brett Watson, children Devona and Paige) and Nicole (Dan Clemo, children Roman and Everly). He is also survived by siblings Anita (Phil Levesque), Lise (Garth Drake) and Denis Legros (Margaret), sister-in-laws Jean and Ida, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Gabrielle, father Esdras and brothers Norman and Charlie.
Don was a man of family, faith and friendship. As a resident of St. Boniface and a graduate of Otterburn High School, his inquisitive mind and passion for knowledge took him to the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a Bachelor of Education. Don then devoted the next 35 years moulding minds across Manitoba, which included stops in Laurier and Pine Falls, before returning to Winnipeg and the St. James School Division. After retiring from teaching, Don continued to give back by assisting the residents at Vista Park Lodge with everything from home repairs to lending an ear to those wanting to share a story.
Don was also an avid outdoorsman, an exceptional handyman, and a devoted volunteer in the community. While his career ended a few years earlier, Don continued to teach us all what it is to be a loyal friend, a supportive father, a fun-loving Pépère and a proper Christian.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the help and support of the following people: Dr.Gingriche and Cheryl at HSC, The Home Palliative Care Team as well as Dr.Garcia and staff at 3E Riverview Health Centre. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of St. Timothy, 135 John Forsyth Road, with reception to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
