1930-2017
Cynthia “Cindy” Smylie – 87, Great
Village, passed away peacefully Monday, December 25, 2017, on her late
husband’s (Charles Samuel “Chuck” Smylie)
birthday, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre,
Truro.
Cindy was born in Bestel, England and held many roles during
her life, as a caring home maker with a passion for baking, painting,
and gardening. She co-managed a motel with Chuck, served as a fire
fighters women auxiliary, was a past member of Great Village Garden
Club and was involved with Eastern Star, Stewiacke. She was an active
member of Saint James United Church, Great Village, having served as
treasurer and secretary, singer in the choir and volunteer for
fundraising.
Cindy is loved and will be deeply missed by her children,
Wanda Simpson, Great Village; Pamela Pearson, Kitchener, Ontario;
Terry (Jan) Smylie, Ayr, Ontario. Cindy was Nana to, Shane (Jassandre)
Simpson, Staci Simpson, Yolande Branch; Grandmother to, Lynn and Jan
Strickland, Julie and John Bell, Doug and Dawn Pearson, Kim (John)
Mirotta, Jennifer and Luke Smylie and Great Grandmother to Lexa
Adamyk-Simpson, Charlie and Lilly Mirotta. Along with her parents, she
was predeceased by her sons, Patrick Smylie, Danny Simpson; step-son,
Michael Smylie.
In keeping with Cindy’s wishes, there will be no
visitation or funeral service. Memorial service and private family
interment will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations to a
charity of choice are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to
Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private
