Passed away peacefully following a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in his 89th year. Clayton was born on July 25, 1928 in Wellesley Township to Edwin Hackbart and Hilda (Duench) Hackbart. Beloved husband of 61 years to Margaret (McLachlin) Hackbart. Dear father of Stephen Hackbart (Luisa), Dale Hackbart and Michelle Schnurr (Chris). Cherished Grandpa/Poppa of Chantelle, Mikayla and Spencer Hackbart and Zackary and Dylan Schnurr. Lovingly remembered by brothers Art (Marie) and Eddie (Jan), sisters Helen Berg, Gladys Hackbart and Ruby Thompson (Edward), sister-in-law Bernice Hackbart, brothers-in-law Bill McLachlin (Sandra) and Harvey McLachlin (Pearlanne) as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Fred, Walter and Wilfred Hackbart, sisters Vera Fischer, Florence Schmidt, and Mildred Lantz, as well as grandson Andrew Hackbart. Our sincere thanks goes out to the staff at Cobble Creek Residence, Donna S. from Paramed, Dr. Ross Kennel, and the staff at Innisfree House for their care and compassion throughout this difficult journey.
Clayton’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, (519) 749-8467. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. Interment Memory Gardens.
