Obituary for Chris Givelas
Givelas, Chris – February 9, 1933 – October 19, 2017 – it is with heavy hearts that we announce that the founder of the Rainbow Restaurant, Chris Givelas, has passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday October 19, 2017 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of 56 years to Aphrodity Givelas (nee Tares). Cherished father of John Givelas (Angela), Fay Veltri (Frank), and Louie Givelas (Stacey). Loving Grandfather/Dedo of Mario, Deanna, and Emmalisa Veltri, and Christopher and Michael Givelas. Dear brother of Steve Givelas (Terry). Chris will also be missed by the staff, friends, and loyal customers of the Rainbow Restaurant. Chris will be warmly remembered and deeply missed by extended family, friends, and all who knew him. Special thank you to Dr. Fung and the 9G nursing staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Arrangements entrusted to Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa (905.433.4711) on Monday October 23, 2017 from 3 pm – 5 pm and 7 – 9 pm. Funeral service will be held at Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Sts. Nectarios and Gerasimos Greek Orthodox Church, 399 Farewell Street Oshawa, on Tuesday October 24, 2017 at 10:30 am. Entombment Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated, and may be made, along with condolences, by visiting www.armstrongfuneralhome.net.
