Burton Mylford BELL – 2017

It is with deep sadness the family announce the passing of Burton Mylford Bell of Rosetown, SK, (formerly of Milden, SK) on January 5, 2017, at the age of 91 years.
Burton was born November 14, 1925 in Outlook, SK. He grew up on the family farm south of Bounty, SK, in the Decorah district. He grew up during the thirties, making him a person who was resourceful and hard-working. His early adulthood was spent working on the farm, and in the winter taking various off-farm jobs. During one winter he worked as a short order cook in Saskatoon, while another in a lumber camp in Northern Ontario. He married Norma Britton of Imperial on January 20, 1954. They began their married life on the farm and shortly thereafter moved to Milden. During his years in Milden, Burton worked as a mechanic, and achieved journeyman status. He continued to farm until he purchased Gates Motors in 1970, which he operated until retiring in 1987. He was known as a mechanic who could fix anything. In 2002 Burton and Norma moved to Rosetown.
Burton could always be counted on to tell a joke or two. This past fall when he was hospitalized in Saskatoon, the staff was entertained with his many stories. He loved his family dearly and was delighted when his daughters were playing their guitars and singing. He loved to dance. He also loved to play cribbage and was a fierce competitor. He enjoyed the years he and Norma travelled south with their trailer and the summers spent at Grieg Lake. Probably some of his happiest moments were spent with a fishing rod in hand. In his retirement years he took up painting, which he enjoyed until his eyesight failed. His artwork hangs proudly in his family’s homes. His is past member of the Milden Elks.
Burton was predeceased by his son Gregory in 1979, his wife Norma in 2007, and his special friend Rena Britton in 2016. He was also predeceased by his parents Harry and Olive, siblings Gordon (Florence), Reg, Jack, Ariel (Georges) Cousineau, brother-in-law Craig Hersberger and nephew David.
He leaves to mourn daughters Beverley (Don) Seymour of Harris, SK, and Elaine (Brian) Domes of Rosetown, SK; granddaughters Trina Vickery (Trevor), Janay Martin (Lee), Linsay Langstone (Andrew), Marcia Seymour (Brennan Willenborg), Lauren Seymour (Ashton Karle); great-grandchildren Addison and Brooke Vickery, Aidan Martin, Mason Langstone and Jaxon Willenborg; brother Allan Bell; sister Dorothy Hersberger, sisters-in-law Kay Bell and Margaret Bell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 9, 2017 at Milden United Church with Diane Schmidt officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Milden Cemetery, P.O. Box 70, Milden, SK S0L 2L0 or Rosetown and District Health Centre Foundation Inc P.O. Box 653, Rosetown, SK S0L 2V0.
