Bessie Sparkes (nee Janes) September 5, 1922 – August 30, 2017
Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Angel Room, St. Luke’s Home, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, Bessie Sparkes, in her 95th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Douglas; sisters: Gladys McNeil, Florence Hillier and brother John. Bessie is survived by her sons: Dave, Ron (Joyce), daughter Lorraine Holden (Tom – deceased); grandchildren: Matthew (Patricia), Peter (Cynthia), Steven (Crystal), Kelly, Lisa, Lori (Rob); sister Sue Butt, and extended family. A special thank you to the staff of Inglewood and the Angel Room, St. Luke’s Home, for their exceptional care, and to special friend and former caregiver Dana Strickland and Elite Home Care. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Friday September 1st from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. Funeral service to take place at Wesley Church, Patrick Street, on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11 am. Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hamilton Avenue. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Bessie’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, St. Luke‘s Home and VOWR.
