Obituary of Benjamin “Ben” Dalton
DALTON, Benjamin James
June 4, 1931 – February 16, 2017
Passed away peacefully at Pinehaven Nursing Residence, Waterloo. Beloved husband (1955) of the late Dorothy (Sinnicks) (2012), and loving father to Susan (Antero Elo) and Devin. Dear brother-in-law to Marian Jacklin, Helen Brady, George (Sandra) Sinnicks, and George Black. Ben is remembered with warm affection by his extended family of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Dorothy (Thomson) and Benjamin; step-mother Elvie (Brown); special aunt, uncle and cousin, Kathleen, Wellington and James Jacklin; sisters and brothers-in-law Elliot Brady, Fred and Gladys Romilly, and Elisebeth Black.
Ben was an educator all his life, not only at Laurel Vocational School but also in the community at large. An active horticulturalist, conservationist and outdoorsman, Ben was happiest walking in the bush, along a creek, or using his teaching skills to share these passions with others. Ben and his wife were founding members of All Saints Anglican Church, Waterloo, since 1957.
Visitation at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Friday, February 24, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, 685 Highpoint Avenue, Waterloo, on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 2 pm, with visitation available at the church from 12:30-1:45 pm. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
