Obituary of Barbara Borbas
BARBARA JANE BORBAS (NEE GILVERSON)
Peacefully at her home with family at her side on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of Andrew for 57-years. Much loved mother of Andrew and Libby. Barbara was predeceased by her parents Albert B. Gilverson and Eadith W. Sorley and her siblings Sgt. Albert E. Gilverson, Patricia Knight and John W. Gilverson. Her many nieces and nephews will miss the laughter and wit of their beloved “Aunt Barb”.
Barbara had a wonderful voice and spent many years singing in the Rosedale United Church choir and later in the choir at Trinity Presbyterian Church. She also loved bridge and tennis and would be found three or four days a week at the Granite Club enjoying these two passions. She was a formidable competitor on the court or at the table.
The family wish to thank Dr. M Jackson, Dr. B Neu and Dr. F Weksberg for their outstanding care and to caregivers Mekdes and Thess for their love and compassion.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018. Service in the chapel on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
