Andy passed away peacefully on December 27, 2017, at the age of 83. Andy was born in Anjum, Friesland, the Netherlands on August 22, 1934. Together with his family, Andy immigrated to southern Alberta in the spring of 1948 at the age of 13. On December 21, 1955, he married Emmy Van Keimpema. They raised their family in various centres throughout Alberta, NWT and the Yukon. Andy was known for his many friendships, his acceptance of others, and his helpfulness.
Andy is survived by 2 sisters and 2 brothers; his loving children, Henry (Elizabeth), Clayton (Alice), and Vanessa; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife Emmy, daughter-in-law Nancy, and brother Joe.
A private family Memorial will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the caring staff at the Westview Health Centre Palliative Unit in Stony Plain. Donations can be made to a charity of choice.
